Can Love and Money go together?

Love and MoneyCan Love and Money go Together?

It is almost the New Year!  Have you reviewed last year’s budget?  With this type of economy, we all tend to watch our money more closely.

Money does tend to be one of the top disagreements between couples though.  Two people can have completely different ideas on how to budget and/or spend the family money.  Do the traditional marriage vows hold up when money is co-mingled?

Love and Money can go together, it just needs to be discussed.

Here are some ways for you to live happily ever after encompassing love and money!

  • Communication and Expectations are a must when it comes to co-mingling money.  Most couples do not discuss what their priorities are prior to marriage.  This can be very problematic.
  • Budget for big items and small items.  Be sure to keep track of all spending.
  • Plan for retirement; as the matter of fact until you have children and even after be sure to maximize your retirement savings.
  • Set aside in liquid funds a minimum of 3 months funds to cover all basic necessary bills.
  • Make sure you take turns paying all of the bills out of a joint account.  This will definitely help both people see that love and money can go together.

When all else fails; if you absolutely cannot agree on how to spend your money setting up separate accounts often helps.

It is possible to avoid disagreements, love and money can go together!
